What is anhydrous sunscreen?
Anhydrous means water-free. Most sunscreens emulsify water with oils — that's why they can feel heavy, leave a white cast, or pill under makeup. Anhydrous formulas use silicones and UV filters with no water at all. The result: invisible finish, no white cast on any skin tone, doesn't break down by 2pm. The texture you find in imports like Supergoop Unseen.
Is 78 Labs an alternative to Supergoop in India?
Yes. 78 Labs is built specifically as the texture you'd find in Supergoop Unseen — anhydrous, silicone-base, invisible — but made in India and priced at ₹549 instead of ₹3,000+.
Will 78 Labs leave a white cast on Indian skin?
No. The whole reason we built it: white cast is what made most of us stop using sunscreen daily. The anhydrous silicone base is invisible across Fitzpatrick III–V skin tones.
Who makes 78 Labs?
78 Labs is built by a husband-wife team — both former product managers, currently US-based and moving back to India. The product is manufactured in India by a contract partner we spent six months evaluating.
When does 78 Labs launch?
September 2026, give or take. We'd rather ship a product we're proud of than rush the lab certification. If you're on the waitlist, you'll hear from us when things are actually happening — and only then.
What's the price? What's the Founder Member offer?
MRP is ₹549. The first 90 days of buyers — Founder Members — lock ₹499 forever. If we ever drop the public price below ₹499, theirs drops too. After 90 days, the Founder list closes. That's the only scarcity we'll ever use.
Will it pill under makeup?
No. Anhydrous silicone bases grip foundation rather than pilling away from it. That's the same reason the imports work under makeup and most Indian sunscreens don't.
What skin types is it for?
Daily wear for oily-to-combination skin in Indian humidity. If you have very dry winter skin and want a moisturising sunscreen, this isn't the right product for you — there are good options elsewhere.
How is 78 Labs different from Mamaearth, Foxtale, or Minimalist?
Mostly the texture. Those brands make competent sunscreens, but none of them deliver an anhydrous silicone base — that's a harder formulation to manufacture and the margins are tighter. 78 Labs exists specifically to close that texture gap at a fair price.
What's the SPF? What's the PA rating?
We don't publish SPF or PA numbers yet. The product is being formulated and tested; the certified numerical claims will appear here once the lab cert lands. Until then, the only thing we'll commit to is that we won't print a number we can't back.
